The Band
Based out of Southern California, Jyro La Villa and Jerome Fontamillas formed the bands Mortal and Fold Zandura over 30 years ago.
Starting out with just a 4 track, a sampler and a drive to create music that was relevant and thoughtful, Jyro recorded an EP under the name Mortal Wish. Jerome later joined the band and Mortal was born. Soon after, they recorded their first album Lusis.
With Mortal, they were able to record and release 5 studio albums (Fathom, Wake, Self Titled, Nu En Jin), a Live EP, and an electronic side project called Pura.
After touring as Mortal for a few years, It started to become clear that Jyro and Jerome wanted to expand their musical genre. Realizing that music is always evolving, they wanted to reach a broader audience by evolving with it. So they disbanded Mortal and began a new band, Fold Zandura (affectionately called Foldzan), a slightly different type of musical genre but with the same soul and heartbeat of their previous band. With Foldzan they were able to record a Self Titled album and an EP (King Planet) independently, another EP (Return) and a full album (Ultraforever) on various indie labels. They toured for a few years until they decided to pause the band to pursue other musical projects.
